Sars-CoV-2, the cause of the Covid-19 pandemic, is an RNA virus that preferentially infects cells of the respiratory tract. Severe forms of the disease are characterized by a major inflammatory syndrome, with disruption of many biological markers of inflammation, including interleukin-6.
